Drive-Way Tax or just a new Tax?

I’m still reading more articles about this proposed Tax by the Mission City Council. I don’t like writing about things (blog wise) I don’t know much about unless it involves creationism, Obama, Illegal Aliens & Amnesty, Porn Stars and Herbalism.

Of all the wrong times to suggest a new tax, it would be this past 2009 and current 2010. I’d like to hear a reason of proposing such a tax and defend it’s worth. Yes, I read the monies are to be used for roads repairs and infrastructure. I get that. What I don’t get is how they are getting the monies to pay for this…by taxing business’s, school, churches, you and me (who live in Mission) for using our vehicles. How about the City Council all take salary cuts? Increase fee’s for drunk driving, speeding, moving violations. Go collect monies from dead beat parents (taking a fee). Re-evaluate your spending. Don’t tax business’s and consumers for…consuming. This is essentially a double tax, esp. for home owners. What incentive is it now for a business to open in Mission when they have to pay these tax fee’s? Can you say no more job growth and business development in Mission?

“Under the new program, every homeowner will be charged $72 a year and small businesses will pay $3,558 a year, beginning in December. Larger businesses will pay more. For example, a Target store will pay up to $64,750 annually. Mission officials previously said homeowners would be charged on average about $72.”

Not sure where the ‘Drive-Way Tax’ derived from since it doesn’t matter if you have a driveway or not you will pay.

All in all, it’s simply bad timing to try and implement this tax NOW. They should shelve it for now, re-package it and come up with a more subdued tax to help repair the roads.

Bad move City Council. Highest unemployment in decades, slow recovery out of the recession…..

I think the main worry for those not in Mission is if this takes off and is ‘successful’ it will be a domino effect for Olathe, OP, Missouri, Lenexa, etc. BTW– if your church or school falls along the borders of Mission you will have to pay for Mission taxes. Churches are also not exempt.

Don’t get me wrong, I think infrastructure (roads, bridges, etc.) and education are taxes I have nearly no issues on paying but it also comes down to trust. Extensions of these types of taxes occur all the time as well as increases.  Once it’s on the books the councils don’t need to ask YOU for permission to extend or amend.

This brings me to the point of voting. I doubt these City Council peeps have another term. Read up and learn what upcoming votes are for, what they may represent down the road. Participate. Do your duty as a US Citizen and vote (for your reasons not the media or popular vote theme).

If this hits my neck of the woods of OP I will def. be all over researching they details and reasoning behind raising my taxes.

2 Years with my Love

Celebrating our 2 years of Marriage this past weekend was one of relaxed moments, kisses, holding hands and consuming alcohol. Dinner, drinks and time with friends. I found my loverly wife on the web. Now a days it’s not so uncommon to find relationships online. It’s much easier to ‘see’ the other via forums, blogs, groups of same interests. We met through a local online dating community where they had events scheduled weekly. This was over 7 years ago and that site was eventually bought out by a bigger National company and with that all the relationships, local feel went out the window.

What’s interesting about online relationship development is the communication, besides their picture– while IS very important, I mean let’s be honest you have to be physically attracted to the other before you move on to their brain…least for me. But the main thing you attach to (for me again) is their words. Their writings. On the site they had a very active forums. This was the first impression area. They also had live Chat but that was….meh. I post a lot on forums in many venues of gaming, politics and social areas so my ‘voice’ is heard a lot. I’m def. not a wall flower on forums let alone the social events they scheduled. I don’t know how guys can sit on their asses at singles events and not ask a woman to dance or just get on the dance floor themselves. I think it was my ability to move forward, be pro active in looking for someone that makes it/ made it happen. The internet was simply a tool one could use to get info, it was up to me to make something happen and I’m damned glad my insecurities didn’t get in the way.

While this is our ‘2nd year of wedding bliss’ we’ve been ‘official’ for over 7 years and this Dec being our BIG 8! We’ve both been very blessed to have gotten this far and done a lot with our mixed families. It’s work. A lot of work to make things balanced on all fronts, career, schooling, social and making your relationship mean something. It’s the kind of work I love.

My parents would have been celebrating their 43rd year of Marriage and Alo’s just did this past weekend as well. Now that’s the rarity– couples married 25+ years. It’s amazing. Our parents are proof love is sustainable. =D

Dull Drums

Depending on your personal motivations of playing WoW there really isn’t much of a point to play as much at this stage of the game. Cata +5 level, instances and a whole new world and new old world are what’s interesting me these days. I log in now to play my Horde toon and my loverly Mage ‘Husker’ who just hit 60 last night. I should be ready to go at 80 end of September based on my own pace.

Mages are certainly fun to play, I’d say 2nd to Druids. Mainly because Mages are so one dimensional. DPS. Who doesn’t love to be on the Top 5 charts? Shooting bolts of frost, fire and arcane magic in a robe? This toon will be my…lemme count….

  1. WookieLuv 80  Hunter
  2. AK/O 80 Priest
  3. Dreaming 80 Druid
  4. SeanCassidy Paladin
  5. Wootbeer Warrior

up-coming capped level toon. What’s great about having that many toons is that I’ve literally learned them from every which way and while I’m not a LEET’ player I do know how to play them and get the most of their respective roles.**sans SeanCassidy*   for whatever reason I simply suck at DPS, too scared to Tank with him. I can PvP ok but….no matter what I read, rotation of spells, research…I suck at Paladins. /shrug

So as I climb the ladder of Mage’ism I’m still in Frost Spec and loving every DING along the way. So far, only a lock and hunter have beat me out of Top DPS. And they were 2 levels above me. *flex*. So yea, I’m diggin my mage.

I’ve been asked by at least 3 peeps since I’ve been back from vacation if I was planning on revamping up the guild and my answer is: Not right now, I’d rather level toons, have others lead and not be a GM let alone recruiting new players to a guild that isn’t active. Once Cata comes out I may, just depends on the content and if Diablo 3 catches my FOM time. I know the new xpac of Cata will enhance larger and more active guilds and have listened to podcasts and read notes/updates on it and Blizzard never ceases to amaze me with their continual improvement of the game.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

What PMS Color is Obama?

It’s not easy trying to find the correct PMS color for the Prez. I’m usually pretty good at colors and fonts. At times he’s a 725. Sometimes a 732. I think it depends on the lighting.

I’m a PMS 730 in the summer.

What do you think? Click here for the PMS Color Chart.

How’s Obama doing?

Grade scale I’d give him a C- at this point. Said it on more than a few occasions that he’s nothing more and nothing less than your typical ‘Politician’. He’s not our savior. He’s not going to bridge the race gap. He’s not going to do anything ‘special’ beyond what a Democrat politician does: spend, social welfare programs, spend, etc. His major differences are his mannerisms and being a very good orator. I bet he’s very good at Poker..least the bluffing part.

Things I like so far: Removing our Troops from Iraq. Extending unemployment benefits. His gray hair. Fuel standards for car industry. Closed Guan.

Things I don’t like so far: Sending more troops to Afgan. Bailout of Banks, Cars. His wife’s eyebrows. Not taking immediate action in the Gulf: capping it with US Government Technology and canceling all contracts with BP (they’re the largest supplier of oil/gas to the Government). Jamming through the Obama’Care package even AFTER the Citizen of America screamed “NO!!!”. Taxed middle income. Hired the worst people for his Cabinet, especially Sec. of Treasure.

I’m not looking for perfection, I’m not a Bush supporter – only my wifes. I’m taking in a cup of ‘lol’ on all the friends of mine who thought he was the second coming of Christ. Their honeymoon is over. They’re not yelling “YES WE CAN!” because reality of who he is and his true colors are shining through.

I do think, unless the R’s come up with a better than average candidate for 2012 then he will be re-elected. I know a lot can happen from now til then. Oh, and when I say better than average I  mean Piyush Amrit “Bobby” Jindal from Louisana. He will be their poster boy for their version of ‘Change’ in the name of color much like Obama. The dude is the same age as me.

God forbid that stupid Palin tries for a run again. I still think it was all planned for her to join the Old Fart campaign to ENSURE Obama would win. That’s my conspiracy theory of 2008 elections.

Now, if he could talk his wife into changing her eyebrows– back to normal vs. looking like ‘The Count’ from Sesame Street.

A Borg Guild Would Be Best

If you don’t know what a ‘Borg’ is then this post is..well…replace Borg with ‘Sheep’ and that’ll explain it.

I often have day dreams of what it would be like to have at the most 5 people whom I can play WoW with on a non-regular basis. My life doesn’t revolve around WoW as it did the first couple years. And that’s going kind of hardcore me saying ‘revolve’ – I did play a lot, about 5 hours a night 4 times a week. Mostly leveling toons, running the guild, recruiting, raiding- the norm.

Now, I’m in 3 other guilds and play at my own pace as I’ve done in the past but with fewer peeps. Maybe it’s the game and maybe it’s my attitude of focusing on things outside of WoW. I can’t really pin point it. Of the three guilds, “Exalted” is the most friendly but also the most tempermental. Kinda. Not complaining but the more people in your guild the more drama/issues/shit happens. Makes sense.

So, back to the Borg. In Star Trek this mechanical/bioengineered class of beings are single minded, hive like mind set. The ‘assimilate’ anyone/race/ who they deem worthy of adding value to the hive. They act as one. This isn’t new in the history of man, I always think of Atilla the Hun when I think of the Borg. He gave his enemies (conquered), 2 choices. Join or Die. None of this pacified leadership. No prisoners. Join and Die. This concept gave way to one the most fearsome warlords, ever. This way of thinking lead to many innovations as the cultures they took over *and in a lot of case- wiped off the face of the world* they incorporated their skills, ideologies and technology into their own. It essentially took the best and made it theirs. Brilliant. Minus the death part.

I could go into a long tirade about political parties and religion that does the same thing but in the end it’s ALL ABOUT CONTROL.  I will digress and move back to my line of thought on how a Borg guild is best in WoW…sorta. I never claim to have complete blog posts let alone being relevant to those who visit and read. I’m also not one to post about how cool I am, how damn good looking I am or my unreal ability to win at Poker.

So I have this day dream of having 5 good people without attitude about when/how/who/what to do in WoW but they all have the same goals and schedules. Let’s make it 10 people. I like 10m raids. OK.

Can you imagine what accomplishments one could do in game with a same agenda? It would be like Obama and Clinton making babies. I had a dream/nightmare a few weeks ago about that. Obama and Hillary both filed for divorce on the same day. Once the divorces were final they married each other and Hillary had twins. Two Boys. One boy was gay the other was straight. The WORLD was drawn in with the drama from the divorce then mesmirized they got re-married. It was ying and yang.

So….being able to run old instances and getting rep from ZG. Doing the fishing quests and mount runs in ZG. 10 manning Tempest Keep for the Mount. Questing as one. Relaxing as one. PvPing as one. All of that but without the pomp and circumstance. Without people leaving for greener pastures. Because they’re about to get a divorce because they became “King Slayer”.

I think if one is married and you play WoW Hardcore/Raiding-like and only ONE of you is playing…your fucked. How can you play 5-6 days a week from 6pm-11pm and have a healthy relationship? What if you have children? Young ones? Ugh. Mise well cut your losses and divorce. hehe

I strongly believe couples that game together stay together. I know of at least 3 couples that play together and seem happy, albeit in a introverted kinda way. Can one be introverted if your with another? Hmmm. They chose to not go out on a Friday night. They choose not to interact with their kids on Sunday. They choose not to go OUT side.

So yeah– sheep/borg guilds seem to be the best choice though on paper only because in reality (what’s that??) they simply don’t work for very long. Humans are selfish, especially in games. People have free will. Dammit. Without free will things would get done in this World (of Warcraft).

________________(this is where I switch gears…note the underscore)__________

My time as a ‘Horde’ has been great. I never lose WG. I never wait for runs. We do have issues with coordinating 25 man pugs: VoA, OS, ICC…but this is Azshara. The times I see that the Horde MAY lose WG I’ll log out and relog my Alliance toons and get my badge/honor bonus. Their Auction House prices are higher though. They’re not as whiney and complainy as Alliance is in trade/general chat. Armistice is THE top guild on the server on both sides and they rain down the achievements like nobody’s business. I’m not in their tier one or two raiding groups nor do I want to be (see divorce). But it’s good to be around veterans who know what they’re doing and all seem very confident in their roles and maturity levels.  This guild comes to game.

My next pet project is to level Husker to 80 before October. He’s 54 atm and was able to level up lastnight with a OS run of BRD. I was top dps at avg of 600. That’s not saying much since, next to Boomkin and Locks– it’s a two button I win DPS class of mages. Blizzard, Freeze, Blow. Rinse and repeat. I like. I plan on catching up with Samagic and us making a two-man Arena team. (not really). I’m a frost mage- which seems to be the ONLY real spec….look at the top Mages– all Frost.

After Husker hits 80 I’ll be done leveling til the expansion in Nov.

Ok. done. rambling.

Stay cool.
