Looking for a Partner (no homo)

The New PvP Arena Season is upon us and while I may not be 80 I do want to make an effort to get the gear. So…I am looking for some partners to do 2v2 and 3v3…the toons I want to get geared are AutumnKnight (spec’d Shadow), WookieLuv (BeastMaster spec) and my DeathKnight Arikara who is a hybrid spec but mostly Unholy.  I’ve had partners in the past and we had ups and downs but mostly they didn’t like losing (who does?) but I am willing to lose some for the sake of the gear. I want to have a set schedule to run all 3 toons or whichever I can get going consistently. Say Mondays (eve) , Thurs (eve) and Sat (morning)– but am pretty much open to ideas.   As I mentioned I don’t have any level 80’s and won’t anytime SOON so if you are OK with me being low 70’s for the time being please let me know!

Couple quick notes– recruiting, please continue but keep in mind some standards must be followed.

  • Minimum Level Requirement is 55. Exceptions are family and friends you know in real life.
  • Inform them that this is not a Hard Core guild and will not tolerate elitism or leet speak (constantly).
  • We are looking for Quality players who are mature and did I mention mature? We have a lot of 20-30-40’s in the guild, keep that in mind.

Wons

For me this is the first snow fall of the season, I was out of town last week in Atlantic City when the snow fell here in Kansas City. In A.C. it was initially 21 degrees and typical for the eastern seaboard but the very next day the temps shot up to the 50s and 60s. I love the first snow fall like todays. It’s clean, crisp and biting.  I don’t like week old snow with it’s rootbeer-esque slush look and salt/sand slowing eating away my cars undercarriage. It did take me just over an hour to go 7 miles to work, seems most drivers are not used to snow. I’m sure my kids and Alo’s are praying for school closures and am sure it will happen today/tomorrow. Time to unplug the router.

WOW wise I am a slow starter about getting back into the groove, for the past 5 weeks I’ve been on the road 2 weeks since the expansion came out. As guild leader I believe I should show some sort of example of leveling and finding a niche in the characters and just before the expansion I was (imo) the top healer of the guild in as far as gear and ability to go into instances and lead when needed. Now, not so much. I don’t blame Bush for my lack of gusto for grinding out another 10 levels, I blame the power of laziness. I blame the power of love and wanting to hang with my Alo vs. 3-5 hours a night in game. Granted, the guild has been up and up with typically 10-20 people online at night and most are near 80 but lately I’ve been AFK from WOW. Since I’m a creature of habit and my schedule has been far from the norm it takes me awhile to get back in ‘it’.

Ivanvonivan posted another PvP Tournament scheduled for January 3rd. More information is located on our Forums. It’s open to The Old School Academy and any members from Old School. IF you do participate please represent yourself as a guild. Don’t be an asshole like ‘Macstanding’ or other former Academy members (or present). I’d sooner kick you than let you tarnish Ivan’s new shield and Helm. He is also looking for a couple volunteers to keep track of matches, please get with him ingame or post here.

I will be choosing a Player of the Month at the above tournament. Winner will recieve a 20 slot bag and 250 gold. Are you asking “How can I be POM?” – simple. Help the guild and don’t be an asshole. I will be talking with the officers in the coming weeks to narrow down the selections. If you want to donate to the prize pool (I am currently making the bag and pulling 250 gold from the guild bank) please post here or forums or talk with me ingame.

On that note- Hilary Duff turned 21 this year…

Post meeting thoughts and stuff…

We had over 26 people online and 24 in vent last night for the guild meeting! Thanks for showing up and being on time. To those who were late or didn’t get on vent or were too busy doing something else. You suck. Just kidding…but you did have a whole week to know about the meeting…/end guilt trip.

Overall the meeting was a success, I explained in detail about the new ranking system and the benefits of each rank. Guild bank was discussed– please deposit 10g if you plan on using the bank. Talked about how, currently most everyone is busy leveling up to 80 and once the core players hit that level things will settle down and we can have some sort of structured schedule for events, raids and questing/farming. I love schedules. We also touched on a guild t-shirt which I can design sometime soon and link to cafepress for all to buy- proceeds will go to my wallet up tp $160.00 (80 would go to the Vent server i bought last spring then another 80.00 for renewal). All other proceeds maybe used for a chosen charity? /discuss.

Had some drama just before we raided Thunderbluff (I lagged out and had a world server ‘offline’ so I don’t know what happened). Apparently when I only wanted TWO members of Gutbuster Brigade on the “Council” rank it pissed off a couple members, who were higher rank in their former guild. I will state again, I decided it to be so as I want the Council rank to be very special and have a meaning, not just throwing in people whom I do not know, not quested with or rarely see. I choose Star n Moon for a couple reasons, 1st and foremost it was those two that got with Logtar from the early questing and formed the friendships that in the end, made the guild merger possible. I didn’t know the hierarchy of their guild before and I only based my calls on their ranks because of my trust in John (Logtar). The other reason is this is OLD SCHOOL, not Gutbusters…therefore the structure of ranks do not over ride ours in any element, shape or form. I spoke with the 2 that left soon after and the main crux of leaving was that they were not included in the rank of Council. I explained at length the reasons above and invited them back (they maybe back right now far as I know) but I wont’ put them on the rank of Council but rather the rank of Chief of Staff as originally planned. What I didn’t get was why wouldn’t they have simply PST me vs. guild quitting without a single word? Nothing? Anywhoo… as I said last night, they are welcome back to the guild but I won’t placate to them in regards to rank….no can do. I understand this game can get very personal and sometimes we let things get to us that in the end is petty…so please reconsider your actions.

Onward– from the turnout last night, I think we are heading in the right direction as a guild of casual and semi-serious players! Thanks again for your time and effort you put into this guild.

I juggle.

Me Juggling

Me Juggling

Above is a quick sketch I made and my favorite pencil…

I have 3 World of Warcraft Accounts. That’s $45.00 per month. I have 6 level 70+ toons. The 70’s include a Warrior, Warlock, DeathKnight, Priest, Rogue and a Hunter. I’m an addict. I run a guild as best I can but as you can see I get easily distracted. I also have a built in guilt mechanism that won’t allow me to focus on only ONE character for longer than a day or two. That mechanism isn’t exactly a good thing to have when you have as many alts as I have. You never get a lot done. You move in increments. i.e. AutumnKnight hit 71 this past week but my others have only inched along the grinding levels. I am juggling all these toons but I am still happy doing so! I love the variety each one gives me with leveling and spell/talent choices. One thing I do recommend you NOT do is level your DeathKnight from 55-70 in one week like I did then go play your Holy Priest….you will feel many things and one is not being happy. Don’t do it.

I am not complaining…only explaining. Many do not have alts but just one…maybe 2 toons they play with. You are the lucky ones. I have a self proclaimed OCD of WoW coupled with a heavy dose of ADD. I will have to level all my toons to 80. I have to max all their professions. Fishing. Cooking. First Aid. Money Professions too… Blizzard owns me.

I juggle.
